Analytics

Analytics allows you to measure your website's performance: number of visitors, popular pages, and traffic sources. Essential for making informed decisions.

What is web analytics?

Web analytics is the measurement and analysis of your website's traffic. With an analytics tool, you can find out how many people visit your site, which pages they view, where they come from, and how long they stay.

This data is essential for understanding whether your site is meeting its goals: attracting visitors, generating leads, or selling products. Without analytics, you are navigating blind.

Why should you measure your site's visits?

Measuring your site's traffic allows you to make decisions based on facts rather than assumptions.

  • Evaluate your visibility — Observe how your visitor count evolves over time to verify that your strategy is working.
  • Identify popular pages — Discover which pages attract the most visitors and which are being ignored.
  • Understand your traffic sources — Know whether your visitors come from Google, social media, a direct link, or another website.
  • Measure conversions — Count the number of forms filled out, phone calls, or quote requests generated by your site.
  • Optimize your content — Adapt your pages based on the actual behavior of your visitors.

What metrics should you monitor?

Google Analytics offers many data points. Here are the essential metrics to track as a priority.

  • Users (visitors) — The number of unique people who visit your site over a given period. This is the primary indicator of your visibility.
  • Page views — The total number of pages viewed. A single visitor can view multiple pages in one session.
  • Bounce rate — The percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page. A high rate (above 70%) may indicate a content or relevance issue.
  • Average session duration — The average time spent on your site. The longer visitors stay, the more engaging your content is.
  • Traffic sources — Where your visitors come from:
    • Organic Search — Visitors from Google (natural results)
    • Direct — Visitors who type your URL directly in their browser
    • Social — Visitors from social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
    • Referral — Visitors from a link on another website
  • Most viewed pages — Your pages ranked by number of views. Identify your most popular content.
