Social Media

How to add your social media links and integrate them into your site.

If you provided your social media URLs in the order form, they are already integrated into your website. Social media icons typically appear in two places: the website footer (visible on every page) and optionally in the header or a dedicated section on your homepage.

To add new social links or update existing ones, contact our team via your dashboard or email hello@madra.io with the URLs of the profiles you want to link. Changes are applied within a few hours.

You can add or remove social links at any time, and there is no limit to how many platforms you can include.

Which platforms are supported?

Madra supports all major social media platforms. Each platform gets its own recognizable icon that matches your site's design. Supported platforms include:

  • Facebook — business page or personal profile.
  • Instagram — your main Instagram account.
  • LinkedIn — personal profile or company page.
  • X (Twitter) — your business or personal account.
  • YouTube — channel or specific video page.
  • TikTok — your business or personal account.
  • Pinterest — your profile or a specific board.
  • WhatsApp — direct link to start a conversation.
  • Snapchat — your profile or Snapcode.
  • Yelp — your business listing.
  • Google Business Profile — a direct link to your listing.

If you use a platform not listed here, let us know. We can add a custom icon for virtually any social or business directory.

How do the clickable icons work?

Each social media icon is a clickable link that opens the corresponding platform in a new browser tab. This means visitors stay on your website while also being able to follow you on social media.

The icons are designed to blend seamlessly with your website's visual identity:

  • Consistent style — icons use the same color palette and size as the rest of your site.
  • Hover effects — a subtle animation on hover confirms the icon is clickable.
  • Accessibility — each icon includes an aria-label (e.g., "Visit our Instagram") so screen readers can announce the destination.
  • New tab — links always open in a new tab to prevent visitors from leaving your site.
Tip
Only link to social profiles you actively maintain. An abandoned Facebook page with outdated information can hurt your credibility more than having no link at all.

Can I embed an Instagram feed on my site?

Yes. Beyond simple icon links, you can display a live Instagram feed directly on your website. This is a popular feature for businesses that rely heavily on visual content, such as restaurants, photographers, retail shops, and beauty salons.

The Instagram feed integration displays your most recent posts as a grid of images on your site. When a visitor clicks on a photo, they are taken to the corresponding Instagram post. The feed updates automatically as you publish new content on Instagram.

To request an Instagram feed, contact our team with:

  • Your Instagram username.
  • The page where you want the feed displayed (homepage, gallery, footer, etc.).
  • How many posts to show (typically 6, 9, or 12).
Note
Instagram feed integration requires your Instagram account to be a Business or Creator account (not a personal account). This is free to set up directly in the Instagram app settings.

Social media links have an indirect but meaningful impact on your search engine visibility. Here is how they contribute:

  • Trust signals — Google considers active social profiles as a sign of a legitimate, established business. Consistent branding across your website and social accounts reinforces credibility.
  • Structured data — Madra includes your social media URLs in the site's JSON-LD structured data (the "sameAs" property). This helps Google understand that your website and social profiles belong to the same entity.
  • Traffic from social — when visitors share your site on social media or click through from your profiles, it generates referral traffic. Higher traffic signals relevance to search engines.
  • Open Graph tags — every Madra page includes Open Graph meta tags, so when someone shares a link to your site on Facebook, LinkedIn, or X, the preview displays your page title, description, and image correctly.
